In this special episode, Dan Cockerell joins Maria Massad, Director of Social Media and Digital Partnerships for Walt Disney Birthplace and Jay Williams, Managing Director of Walt Disney Birthplace, to discuss the location and history of Walt Disney’s nativity.
As Massad explains, the purpose of Walt Disney Birthplace is to restore the Disney family home to its original state; however, while reconstruction plays a significant role, the project is also known for its research opportunities.
According to Williams, the reason the current homeowners purchased the property in 2013 was not only to preserve an artifact, but rekindle the dream Walt’s parents had of developing a center for creativity and innovation. Though the location has been an off and on landmark for 125 years, the hope is this living museum will remind families to nurture the next generation of creative thinkers.
